Meet NBCC’s New Chief Policy Officer, Melanie Wyne

Melanie Wyne joined NBCC as Chief Policy Officer in September. Melanie, a breast cancer survivor, attended this year’s Summit and is a graduate of the 2019 Project LEAD class. Melanie has spent decades in Washington DC as a public policy professional and has also spent time in her professional career as a practicing attorney and a technology start-up executive. “I’m excited to be joining NBCC’s exceptional team of patient advocates who are leading the charge to end breast cancer.”

Metastatic Breast Cancer Access to Care Act (H.R. 2178/S. 1374)

NBCC advocates worked over the August recess to secure additional co-sponsors to this NBCC led legislation. The bill currently has 123 cosponsors in the House and 10 in the Senate. We need additional cosponsors! Advocates should continue to reach out to their Senators and Representatives, to continue to show momentum for this important legislation that will provide access to support and medical care for women and men living with metastatic breast cancer.

Breast Cancer Caucus 2020

For the 2020 elections, NBCC is asking each candidate to endorse the NBCC policy platform and explain what actions they will take on related public policy priorities. To date, all of the Democratic presidential candidates have signed on to the NBCC platform. While we continue to reach out, no Republican candidates have signed on. Learn more.
