National Breast Cancer Coalition

Call to Action Online - December 20, 2019

There are no more committed advocates than those that make up the National Breast Cancer Coalition. They are fierce, focused and determined. Because of them, Congress appropriated $150 million in funding
for the DOD Breast Cancer Research Program for FY 2020. Our priority legislation S. 1374/H.R. 2178 The Metastatic Breast Cancer Access to Care act was introduced and has strong bi-partisan support. In 2019 our advocates were responsible for
131 bi-partisan cosponsors in the House and 13 in the Senate. NBCC advocates held more than 300 meetings with their members of Congress on Capitol Hill. Back in the home districts advocates attended town halls and published letters to the editor in their local papers to advocate for NBCC’s priorities. As the year draws to a close we can all be proud of the work we have accomplished and look forward to another year of bold action in 2020. NBCC is grateful and proud of the work you do.

Call for 2020 Policy Priorities

The NBCC Board of Directors will establish NBCC's 2020 Legislative and Public Policy Priorities during their January board meeting. We are seeking your input on priorities NBCC should advocate for in 2020.

As you know, recommendations for 2020 should take into account how the proposed priority moves forward our plan to end breast cancer.

NBCC chooses its priorities through the following process: issues are brought to the attention of NBCC; NBCC staff researches the issue, and prepares background information for the Board of Directors; the board discusses all suggested priorities, determines those NBCC will adopt, and the order of priorities adopted.

As a reminder, NBCC always has chosen those priorities that will have a major impact on breast cancer. The policies must be overarching and cannot address a narrow issue. Please email your suggestion including any background information, AND DESCRIBE WHY YOU BELIEVE IT SHOULD BE AN NBCC PRIORITY and falls within the parameters of NBCC’s mission, by close of business Friday, January 17. For your information, we are providing a summary of the 2019 priorities.
