Call to Action Online – September 30, 2020

September 30, 2020

The systems of policy and decision making must be based on science.

NBCC joined 78 other organizations to send the message: Follow science, not politics to address the COVID-19 pandemic in a letter published in the Washington, DC, edition of the Wall Street Journal. Read the full letter here.

That message resonates with breast cancer advocates: we must have evidence-based, science based, decision making if we are to end breast cancer. That policy underscores our work to push for drugs that are accessible and save lives, to educate and train advocates and to develop a policy agenda that will expand access to evidence based care.

NBCC will continue working to ensure that science and not politics is at the forefront of breast cancer and all public health crises.

What is different about this October?

While we work through the pink, NBCC is moving forward with our post deadline agenda. We recently published our White Paper and a Third Party Assessment, that described our deadline work, evaluated its effectiveness and set a plan for the future. Our October plans include an additional public focus on breast cancer deaths and a renewed emphasis on innovative, collaborative research approaches that will help end breast cancer. If you have not done so, read the White Paper and the Assessment. We welcome your reactions and your input. Contact us at info@stopbreastcancer.org and let us know what you think.

Keep the momentum going with NBCCs Stop the Clock Campaign

Every 13 minutes, a woman dies of breast cancer. We must honor their memories with action. Through our “Stop the Clock” campaign, which NBCC launched in September and will continue throughout October, and beyond, we’re doing just that.

Here Are 5 Ways to take action today to help us stop the clock on breast cancer:

Tell us your NBCC Advocacy Story

We are part of NBCC for a reason, and that reason is different for each of you. You may be a survivor or the family member of someone who has breast cancer or has lost their life to breast cancer. Or, another reason entirely. We need your stories. Why are you an NBCC advocate? We want to share your advocacy story with others so they, too, can become a catalyst in our fight to end breast cancer. Let them know it is not only possible to change the world, but that each one of us can help make that happen.
