NBCC’s Metastatic Breast Cancer Access to Care Act Introduced with Bipartisan Support

NBCC is proud to announce the introduction of the Metastatic Breast Cancer Access to Care Act for the 118th Congress by Reps Andrew R. Garbarino (R-NY-02) and Kathy Castor (D-FL-14). The bipartisan legislation eliminates the arbitrary and onerous waiting periods for Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) benefits and Medicare coverage for those with metastatic breast cancer. Read our press release announcing the introduction of the bill. As of this writing, NBCC advocates have already garnered more than 65 bipartisan cosponsors for the legislation and are working to ensure its passage this year.

NBCC Introduces 2023 Legislative and Public Policy Priorities

The NBCC Board recently affirmed our 2023 Legislative and Public Policy Priorities. We have set ambitious goals to drive progress on key policies impacting breast cancer. Read about the priorities here and stay tuned for opportunities to take action throughout the year.

Meet Your New and Returning Members of Congress

The new year brings a new Congress and the need to educate them about NBCC and our priorities. Take advantage of opportunities for NBCC advocates to reach out to new and returning members of Congress about our issues:

  1. Visit our online Action Center and customize a welcome message to your representatives in Congress. Make sure they know about NBCC’s important work to end breast cancer.
  2. Find out whether your member will hold in person events with constituents. The best way to do that is to follow them on Twitter or Facebook. If you plan to attend an event, let NBCC staff know by emailing Grassroots Engagement Director Maggie Bush (, and she can provide you with talking points and necessary information.
