On March 18, National Breast Cancer Coalition (NBCC) supporters celebrated courage, leadership, and progress at the New York Gala.
We proudly honored Musa Mayer, author, survivor, and fearless breast cancer advocate. Musa has brought clarity and truth to the lived experience of breast cancer, demanded urgency and rigor in research and treatment, and shined a light on metastatic disease when too many looked away.
We also paid tribute to the legacy of Congresswoman Nita Lowey, who lost her battle with breast cancer after an extraordinary 36-year tenure in Congress. She helped make breast cancer a national priority, championed federal research funding, expanded access to care, and fought tirelessly so that no advocate or survivor would be unheard.
And we recognized two grassroots survivor advocates, Nancy Levitan Poorvu and Terlisa Sheppard, whose courage reminds us that change begins in communities and that everyone can play a role in the movement to end breast cancer.
