The National Breast Cancer Coalition (NBCC) applauds today’s Supreme Court decision in California v. Texas which preserves the Affordable Care Act (ACA) and saves health care coverage for millions of Americans.
Ensuring equal access to quality evidence-based health care has been a top priority for NBCC since its inception. It is an essential component of our mission to end breast cancer. The ACA provides breast cancer patients, survivors, and others, vital protections from many of the U.S. healthcare system’s past practices, including eliminating lifetime caps and restrictions for individuals with pre-existing conditions. As a result of NBCC’s advocacy, the ACA also requires consumer representation on any committees, boards, panels, or commissions formed under the law.
NBCC’s network of breast cancer advocates from across the country will continue its fight to defend and expand upon the Affordable Care Act and maintain a commitment to high-quality care for all.
Founded in 1991, NBCC is a collaboration of activists, survivors, researchers, policymakers, grassroots groups, and national organizations that have come together as disruptive innovators for social change with a mission to end breast cancer.
