Urge your Representatives to Support the
DOD Breast Cancer Research Program

Deadline for Letter Signing: Tuesday, March 10

It is time to get signatures on this year’s House of Representatives letter in support of funding for the Department of Defense (DOD) peer-reviewed Breast Cancer Research Program (BCRP). The deadline for your Representatives to sign is Tuesday, March 10. Our grassroots supporters must take immediate action to urge their Representatives to sign the letter! This is the list of Representatives who signed last year; if your Representative(s) are on the list, thank them and ask them to sign again. If your Representative(s) are not on the list, ask them to sign this year.

Your message to your Representative is:
I urge you to show your support for ending breast cancer by signing the letter to Defense Appropriations Subcommittee Chair Visclosky and Ranking Member Calvert calling for $150 million for the DOD peer-reviewed Breast Cancer Research Program for FY2021.

Background: In order to maintain funding for the DOD BCRP, money must be appropriated by Congress. The first step in this process is for the House Defense Appropriations Subcommittee to appropriate funding. Representatives Hastings (D-FL), King (R-NY), McGovern (D-MA), and Bost (R-IL) are circulating the Dear Colleague Letter, asking House Members to sign the Defense Appropriations Subcommittee leadership letter, supporting funding for the DOD BCRP.

If your Representative agrees to sign the letter, her/his staff should email one of the following staffers of the letter sponsors to make it happen:

Katrina Martell in Representative Hastings’ office – Katrina.Martell@mail.house.gov
Deena Tauster in Representative King’s office – Deena.Tauster@mail.house.gov

Email us at NBCC and let us know that your Representative has agreed to sign the letter or if you have any questions.

Thank you!
