NBCC Garners Widespread Bipartisan Support for DOD Breast Cancer Research Program
NBCC advocates have been hard at work influencing the annual Congressional Appropriations process, which will determine government funding levels for Fiscal Year 2024. All told, NBCC advocates garnered bipartisan support from 160 representatives and 30 senators for the DOD Breast Cancer Research Program (DOD BCRP), a longstanding, impactful program. Our advocacy efforts will continue for the remainder of the year with the goal of ensuring level funding of $150 Million for the DOD BCRP.
NBCC’s Metastatic Breast Cancer Access to Care Act Gains Bipartisan Support in House and Senate
NBCC advocates continue to add cosponsors to the Metastatic Breast Cancer Access to Care Act in the 118th Congress. The bipartisan legislation, which as of this writing has already gained 106 cosponsors in the House, eliminates the arbitrary and onerous waiting periods for Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) benefits and Medicare coverage for those with metastatic breast cancer. Read Senator Murphy’s press release announcing the introduction of the bill in the Senate. Help spur this critical legislation forward by writing to your lawmakers and encouraging them to pass it now.
